Until 1978 the Radio amateurs of our area were linked to Maine and Loire
Department.
By agreement with the Maine and Loire Department, ARAM53 Association was
created by the efforts of several OMs from the Mayenne Department in May 1978. To begin with, our
meetings were in various different sites around Laval, but as the number
of members increased it soon became urgently necessary to find a new
permanent location for the club.
It was in 1980, thanks to the efforts of the initial team, that the
Association founded a new place in Laval. It became the Departmental
Establishment of the REF-UNION Organisation in October 1994.
As soon as the place was operational, technical training and telegraphy
sessions were organised to assist new members to pass their exam.
Our Association was also involved in different exhibitions, such as:
- “Radio week” in 1981 and “Computer and Communication fair” in
Château-Gontier in 1995 and 1996
- Exhibition at “Alain Gerbault Museum” on the Laval stand for the
Associations forum in Laval in 1986
- Radio amateur demonstrations in several Schools and Colleges in 1992 and
1996
- Installation of the packet radio BBS “F6KSU-1” by F5EXO in May 1993
- Special call sign “TM1AG” for celebration of the 100th
anniversary of Alain Gerbault (famous French navigator) in November 1993
- “Francophone” Days in Laval in 1998 and 1999 (special call TM5FRA)
- Radio amateur demonstration during Sciences Festival in Laval in 1998 (special call TM0SEF)
- Castle activities (Laval Castle) valid for the DFCF diploma in 2000 on HF
bands, also many more Castle activities across the department (see the DFCF53 in Activities
section on this Web site)
- Stand at the Associations Forum in Laval with traffic on HF bands in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011
- Special call sign "TM7AJ" in 2007 in memory of Alfred Jarry born in Laval in 1873
- Special call sign "TM7DR" in 2010 in memory of Douanier Rousseau born in Laval in 1844
